Tried Everything to Recover From Hypothalamic Amenorrhea and Get Pregnant?
If you’re dealing with hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA) and trying to get pregnant, you probably know this feeling all too well:
You’ve done the things.
You’ve eaten more.
You’ve relaxed your food rules.
You may have even stopped exercising.
And yet… your period still hasn’t returned. 😞
That’s exactly where Melody was when she joined The Restore Your Fertility Group Program. What happened next changed everything and ultimately led to ovulation, a healthy cycle, and pregnancy within just a few months.
When “Doing Everything Right” Still Isn’t Enough
Melody came to us exhausted, frustrated, and emotionally drained.
She had been actively trying to recover from hypothalamic amenorrhea for over six months while hoping to start a family. She truly believed she was doing everything required for recovery:
Eating more food
Breaking long-standing food rules
Letting go of structured exercise (or so she thought)
But despite all of this effort, her body wasn’t responding.
This is where many women with HA get stuck, not because they aren’t trying hard enough, but because the gaps aren’t always obvious without an HA-trained eye.
The Hidden Recovery Gaps Keeping Her Stuck
When we reviewed Melody’s intake forms, a few key patterns stood out immediately:
Significant nutritional gaps, despite eating more
Walking very high daily step counts
Regularly walking on an empty stomach
Although she had made meaningful lifestyle changes, she was still subconsciously dieting and trying to control the recovery process. That control, even when unintentional, can keep the hypothalamus in a perceived state of stress.
This is one of the most common reasons women don’t see progress in HA recovery on their own.
The Turning Point: An HA-Specific Recovery Plan
Instead of generic advice, Melody received a personalized recovery plan designed specifically for hypothalamic amenorrhea and fertility restoration.
Together, we focused on:
Filling her specific nutritional gaps
Addressing lingering dieting behaviors
Reducing energy expenditure that was still sending stress signals
After just the first group call, Melody shared:
“I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders after our call and hearing the process.”
With clarity, permission, and a plan, she took action immediately.
Ovulation, a Period… and Then a New Fear
Consistency paid off quickly. After the second group call, Melody ovulated and shortly after, her period returned. 🎉
But just as relief set in, a new concern appeared.
Because of past cycle irregularities, Melody began worrying she might actually have PCOS, a diagnosis her OB had previously suggested before her HA recovery journey.
This is a common experience for women post-HA, especially when cycles don’t immediately look “perfect.”
Navigating HA vs. PCOS and Trusting the Process
Instead of jumping to conclusions, we continued to:
Fine-tune her nutrition and lifestyle
Provide education on HA vs. PCOS
Coach her through fear-based thoughts and doubt
Two months later, Melody experienced a strong, healthy cycle.
And then… 🤍
She got pregnant, just days after her OB told her she might need to consider fertility treatments.
The 3 Changes That Led to Pregnancy After HA
Melody’s results didn’t come from doing more. They came from doing less and doing it differently:
She fully stopped dieting (physically and mentally)
She allowed herself to be coached, rather than self-directing
She took consistent action, even when it felt uncomfortable
As Melody shared:
“Again, I can’t say enough how joining the program has completely changed my life and mindset. It’s like I was riding a bike without a chain, trying all of the things but stuck until I found you and the HA society!”
What Most Women With HA Actually Need
Melody didn’t lack motivation or knowledge.
She needed:
Permission to stop controlling the process
A safe space to take scary action and feel supported
A clear, proven plan designed specifically for HA recovery and fertility
Recovery isn’t easy, but it becomes possible when you’re no longer doing it alone.
